Sunday is a Sunday

Just a Sunday. Tried to tab out a new song. Don't Cry by Sandra. It's really 80s pop, but lately I've been wanting to do heavier versions of good 80s pop songs.

Gotta go.

Sleep time

Late Saturday nite. Well Sunday morning really. It's 4:12AM and just got done watching the movie "Mooseport". Pretty cool movie. Not the best but not too shabby either. Sort of a chick flick too. But then again, I like chick flicks.

So there you have it. "Mooseport" is a chick flick and it's worth watching.

Ray Romano was a little less annoying than he is on "Everybody loves Raymond" and was a little more funny than he is on his show.

Wednesday day

Well, wednesday is finally here. It's called the hump day. Not for vulgar reasons, as I found out, but simply because that's the hump of the hill, or the week. The midpoint. The highpoint. Then things wind _down_ to a weekend.

So it's called hump day because you're halfway thru the week.

Can't people do their jobs properly for a change? Why delegate all things to a computer and sit back and do nothing? I mean how much effort does it take to close all exits except one and have a guard at that exit. Or whatever else.

Or everybody can get out if they provide their special pass code into the keypad next to the door. OK, I can see some misuse their. But seriously.

Using RFID is great for tracking luggage tho. You thought you can get away with my luggage, eh? Sucka!

Flash is kinda cool

I've been going thru Flash lessons and it's pretty cool. Flash is the cool but sometimes annoying technology that you'll see on many websites where the webmaster/webmistress will create extermely long and qutie annoying intros for their websites without a "Skip Intro" link.

But other than that it's a pretty amazing technology. Search google for "Flash games" and you'll find tons of games that you can play online if you're brower has flash. Don't expect it to work on OS's other MS Windows out-of-the-box tho. Mozilla on Fedora won't automatically download it. You'll have to go the Flash website and download it. And it may still render applets incorrectly from what I hear.

New Monday

Another Monday Another Week!

Well it doesn't have to be that way. If you're out there and reading this and feeling a case of the Monday Blues, cheer up! This week will be over quite fast.... just like any other week. Times only knows how to do one thing: flying. It just flies. Yep! have a cup of coffee and sit back.

Of course, you need to be the master of alt-tabbing if you're vulnerable to spending a lot of time surfing at work. If you're reading blogs, surfing web pages, looking for things, checking portfolios, buying up the ebay inventory, etc... you need to know that there is a certain risk involved in getting caught not working. Forget programs with the Boss Key. The best Boss Key is alt-tab.

Here's how to alt-tab
Windows keeps track of all the application that you use and the order in which you use them. By "use" I mean bringing up an application and doing something then either minimizing that application or clicking on another one from the taskbar.

To use alt-tab, press down the ALT key with your left thumb and keep it pressed. Now press the TAB key once*. This will bring up a little window where Windows will display an icon for each application open on the desktop at the moment. If you keep pressing TAB key you will keep cycling thru the list of icons. When an icon is selected, at the bottom of the new screen windows will display the title of the application that the icon belongs to. When you see the application you want to switch to, just let go of the ALT key. Windows will switch to that application.

So,
1. Open a work related document, programming environment, etc....
2. Open a web browser for all the surfing.
3. At the bottom on the taskbar click on the work related program.
4. Now click on the web browser.
5. If you hear footsteps, keys clanging, pocket change rattling, or whatever else, just hit alt-tab. This will switch you back to your work application.

Now why did I explain this alt-tab trick in good detail considering most of the readers will know how to alt-tab better than Bill Gates himself? Well simple, I need to kill time too. :)

* Pressing once means to press and then to let go.

New Motorbike Fund

OK, so I've put my Motorbike Fund donation link up. It's on the right side right below all my links. If you'd like to donate an amount to my motorbike fund, I say go right ahead. And "Thank you".

So what is this fund?
Well since I am not in a position to afford a motorbike at this point but have been wanting one for a long time, I thought I am gonna start saving for a motorbike fund. Well originally I thought I should set up a Sailboat Fund but that would be expensive and since I won't have much time for it, what's the point? Now a motorbike, I can actually use even during the week.

That's about it.

How to play fake lead guitar

A pretty l33t article. :)

"How to play fake lead guitar"
How to play fake lead guitar:
Have you always wanted to play fancy guitar solos like those guys in glam rock bands, but don't actually play guitar? Here's how to do it... no experience required!
Difficulty Level: easy
Time Required: 10 minutes

Here's How:
  1. Scour your closet for clothes that haven't fit in years, and make them fit. The tighter the better. Baby oil might be essential for the application and removal of these clothes.
  2. Accessorize! Silk scarves are a must for the serious lead guitarist.
  3. Tease hair. Apply hairspray liberally.
  4. Repeat step 3.
  5. Make-up isn't just for women anymore! Remember... foundation first, then blush and eyeliner.
  6. You'll need an electric guitar. Any will do, but the flashier the better. They more they look at the guitar, the less they'll look at your fingers.
  7. Turn your attention towards your gear: all amp dials should be set to 11. If you can't play well, you can at least play loud.
  8. When not playing, strut confidently about the stage with your hands on your hips. (see: Young, Angus)
  9. Facial expressions are important! The best guitarists will, in the course of a solo, appear as though they're deep in concentration, while at other times appear constipated.
  10. Pick a note, and play it aggressively and repeatedly. Be sure to constantly shake guitar violently. If this doesn't go over well, explain you're playing a Sonic Youth cover.
  11. Occasionally look at your hands and appear completely surprised and amused by what you're playing. (see: Van Halen, Edward)
  12. If anything goes terribly wrong, glare at other members in the band. This will lead the audience to believe the others are to blame for the awful racket.
  13. One foot on stage... the other on monitor.

Slow Lazy

Another slow and lazy afternoon. Got up at 6pm. I feel like I've lost the entire day to sleep. Of course, last nite was all wasted watching movies.

When I'm watching movies at home, I enjoy the time because my brother and I spend time together remembering jokes and watching movies. But then the next day it all feels like, "I was wasting time watching..... movies? Shouldn't I do something more constructive with my time?"

Maybe I should look into getting a social life and doing something constructive with a constructive bunch of people.

That's a lot of "constructive"s in one post.

MS Office install should be done by now....

Amazing what people do

2. The Christian Calendar: "Sweden has a curious history. Sweden decided to make a gradual change from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. By dropping every leap year from 1700 through 1740 the eleven superfluous days would be omitted and from 1 Mar 1740 they would be in sync with the Gregorian calendar. (But in the meantime they would be in sync with nobody!)
So 1700 (which should have been a leap year in the Julian calendar) was not a leap year in Sweden. However, by mistake 1704 and 1708 became leap years. This left Sweden out of synchronisation with both the Julian and the Gregorian world, so they decided to go back to the Julian calendar. In order to do this, they inserted an extra day in 1712, making that year a double leap year! So in 1712, February had 30 days in Sweden.
Later, in 1753, Sweden changed to the Gregorian calendar by dropping 11 days like everyone else. "

Beautiful Day

It's raining outside. It's a beautiful day. Feels like driving around with loud music should be fun. I should have taken the day off today.

This time last year, I was looking forward to getting my immigration stuff in order and move to Sweden sometime in the future. It's amazing how much I've changed in the last two years. Now I just wanna move to California. Settle in California. I still wanna be able to travel around the world.

Sailing all over the world sounds like a lot of fun.

Not so stupid

Well the HP is working OK after all. So I won't call it stupid. :)

I could be sailing

<rant>
I could be out there sailing or riding a motorbike. I could be driving on a cross country trip. That would be fun.

But I'm here writing MS Windows Services to run Java code via the JNI interface and Sun doesn't even provide a function to do a stack trace dump of the last exception thrown by the stupid program written by someone else. *sigh*

But you didn't need to read that, did you?

One of these days I should start a sail-boat fund and see if anyone parts with their funds in the name of a sail-boat for someone else.

Back to work.
</rant>

Stupid HP

The new computer seems to be following a random pattern of working. MSPaint doesn't run. Well it shows in the process list but doesn't the GUI at all. While accessing different menus, the computer just freezes. Is it too fast for the operating system? I doubt it, Microsoft would never write an OS that would under utilize the horse power. InterDVD also hangs the computer. Couldn't install IIS on it because it stops after about 87% progress. Then it wouldn't uninstall it.

And I've already given my older computer to my parents. The older computer was a Sony. So much better. HP looks nice but has yet to impress me with its speed or with its out of the box installation.

Not to mention the bracket containing the Media buttons, memory card readers, and the floppy drive wasn't mounted properly. It looked broken after unpacking. Had to fix that too.

This computer is just starting to really make me upset. I mean two days now without a computer that works properly. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I will do a system recovery and it that doesn't work, I'll install my own copy of the XP Media Center Edition.

Cali bloggers

Someone over at Cali Blog is clicking on my blog link? That's kinda neat that someone is looking at my blog. After all I am putting a lot of spicy stuff here, right? Ok maybe not, but just if you're back, "Hey!"

Tired

Man, it's 2:36am and I'm finally getting ready to get off the computer. Fixed up both computers today. The new Media Center is nice. The monitor is starting to look small for some reason though. Could be that the new one that I bought for my parents looks a little bigger.

I'm sticking with this one though 'coz this one has a nice silver and black matching look with the computer.

I'm tired. Me out.

CNN.com - Maine celebrating French connection - Jun 23, 2004:

"On June 26, when dignitaries from France, Canada and the United States set foot on the 6.5-acre (2.6-hectare) grassy outcropping, it will look much as it did when Pierre Dugua, Samuel Champlain and 77 other men arrived 400 years ago to carve out the first French settlement in the New World."

So bl*ck people can make fun of white people and ridicule them as much as they want but wh*te people would be big*ts if they even thought about doing the same to the bl*ck people? Seems like this might be just a little hypocritical.

* I don't wanna earn it, I just want it handed to me. (Which by the way is the attitude of only a few but nonetheless remains acceptable) *
